The Prayer Wheel
Traditional prayer wheels are cylinders filled with written prayers that spin on a wheel. As a hand turns the wheel, each revolution is a prayer. Artist Chris Moench has adapted this concept to show movement and stories in the wheels he creates. As Wendys wheel is turned, the story of her life unfolds. |
The top part of the
wheel shows the night sky, and the changing phases of the moon represent time passing. The dolphins that Wendy saw one morning at the
beach and the sea turtle we released into the ocean from our boat are swimming in the
waves at the base of her prayer wheel. |
