The Prayer Wheel

Traditional prayer wheels are cylinders filled with written prayers that spin on a wheel.  As a hand turns the wheel, each revolution is a prayer.  Artist Chris Moench has adapted this concept to show movement and stories in the wheels he creates.  As Wendy’s wheel is turned, the story of her life unfolds.

The top part of the wheel shows the night sky, and the changing phases of the moon represent time passing.  The dolphins that Wendy saw one morning at the beach and the sea turtle we released into the ocean from our boat are swimming in the waves at the base of her prayer wheel.

The first picture shows Wendy at Disneyworld with her dad and brother. Next she is shown asleep with her cat.  All of her pets and her homes are there.

Here she is wearing her angel costume and carrying Christmas presents.

After the Christmas presents you can see her blowing out birthday candles and playing basketball.

The next to last picture shows Wendy and her family with their arms around each other, and Chris has placed a heart on Wendy.

The last picture is from the ones that Wendy had taken in California.
